I am Woman... hear me squeal

My day so far:

This morning around 4:30 I finished my shower and with just a towel wrapped around me I sat down to play with my new laptop perched on the arm of the couch. As I reached for it I glimpsed something from the corner of my eye.

A spider.

Not just any spider, a big spider. A big spider on my new laptop. So of course I scream. My dear husband, fast asleep, didn't come running out of bed (and a sound sleep) to rescue me.

I was on my own.

Just me and the beast.

I slowly backed away from the couch trying to see what I could use in the upcoming battle. It was important that I not take my eyes off the monster in the horrifying event that I may lose sight of him and he disappear only to resurface when my guard was down. That left only one weapon in my reach. My towel.

So, with a shiver of fear (and cold a/c) bathing me in goose bumps, I stood totally nude with a towel in my hands ready to do battle.

I whipped the towel around like a true matador ready for the fierce upcoming battle, took a deep breath to steady my nerves, and lunged. I trapped the huge spider in the folds of the towel.

Then the realization hit me that there was a giant trapped in the towel I was holding. My bravery vanished and I dropped the towel. As it hit the ground I could see the horrific monster lurking in the folds of the towel right in the middle. Looking around I realized that no one was going to come to my rescue. I also realized that my feet were on the same ground that the spider was on. So I did what any self respecting woman would do.

I put shoes on.

Of course I couldn't leave the room and give the spider his chance to regroup and plot his retribution so I had to grab the shoes I had kicked off the night before. Heels.

I then channeled my inner Wonder Woman, grabbed the towel trapping the horrific giant monstrous creature inside and rushed to the nearest door.  I flipped light switches on during my brave dash to pull the blinds back, opened the sliding glass door and flung the towel out as far as I could.

I made it. I defeated the beast. My sanity returned. Along with the realization that I was standing in a brightly lit room looking out in to the dark wearing nothing but heels...

and my courage.
